AUTUMN:  THE GOTHEST OF ALL SEASONS

It's true, I'm about ready to bust out my copy of Unwound's "Leaves Turn Inside You". Or maybe some Bahaus.

Anyway, we have a bunch of fancy rock shows coming up this fall, including a stint in the next few days with our good pals from North Carolina, The Bronzed Chorus. After that, a few more regional shows, and then another mini-tour with or local brothers and new labelmates Buildings, who will be releasing their new album "Melt, Cry, Sleep".

Speaking of new albums, we're going to be demoing our new songs in the next few months and then recording with the one and only Carl Amburn sometime in the late winter / early spring. It's gonna be another full length, and we think the material is stronger than anything else we've ever done (well of course we do). Gettin' excited!

Check out the shows page for details about the upcoming rock soirees, including this weekend.

Cheers!

WE’RE BACK….

So Europe was a huge success and great trip in so many ways. Met so many amazing people and visited some seriously incredible places (watch the videos below). Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. You know who you are.

It's good to be back, although I don't understand some of the recent phenomenons here like Rebecca Black and "owling" (seriously check it out). We haven't wasted any time since returning to the sweltering practice space, we've already finished one song and are working on more. We've also got a list of late summer / early fall shows coming up, including a great one on Friday, July 29th at Hell's Kitchen. Check out the shows page for more details.

There's also talk of near future recording endeavors........although that's as much as we can divulge at the moment.

Cheers.

COUNTDOWN TO 2011

It's sure been one hell of a year. From getting a new van to releasing our first DVD / music video to playing with a lot of our favorite bands and people across the country, we definitely can't complain. It's been the best one yet.

We're doing four more shows in 2010, and are gonna make 'em count.

This weekend we're playing in Minneapolis and Madison with one of our favorite bands, BEAR CLAW, who just put out a new record called "Refuse This Gift". It's insanely good.

Here are the shows this weekend:

Friday, November 12, 2010
Cause - Minneapolis

Self-Evident
Bear Claw
National Bird
Power Of Two
----------
Saturday, November 13 2010
The Frequency - Madison, WI

Bear Claw
Self-Evident
United Sons Of Toil
Mr. Gnome

Check out the shows page for more details.

Speaking of Bear Claw and travelling, May of 2011 is going to be completely insane. Without (hopefully) jinxing it, we've already got some shows booked together on another continent (hint: it starts and ends with an E). 3-1/2 weeks of rock shows in another part of the world. Holy shit.

Stay tuned,

MIDWEST DATES

Hey y'all, we're playing a bunch of shows in the next few months in IL, WI, NE, MO, and of course MN (pronounced IL-WINE-MOM'N). Bands we get to travel with include The Bronzed Chorus, Traindodge, and Bear Claw. It's gonna be so so nice. We finally (tentatively) named the new van "Jean-Claude Band Van". We'll see if it sticks.

Check the shows page for all of the details.

DVD RELEASE

We are releasing the first ever officially sanctioned self-evident DVD coming up this Friday, June 11th at the Hexagon Bar in Minneapolis. It contains a HD full show performance from Sauce in January, the new music video for "The Past", and some photo outtakes. Come be part of self-evident history.

If you can't make it to the show, the DVD will be available through our site and through Doubleplusgood Records for mail order come Friday.

BTW, thanks to all of you who made our recent tour the best one yet. Seriously insane and completely energizing.

We have a few shows locally that we're really proud to be part of coming up in the near future, check out the shows page for details.

GOOD NEWS AND SAD NEWS

We've got some sad news in the self-evident camp. After almost 9 years and 200,000 miles, our prized red Windstar is being retired. It's true. She's served us well on the road for so long, but with a leaky head gasket and 100 other problems we can't justify fixing, it's time to let her go. The good news is that we just bought a new(er) Ford van that has real legroom and everything, and we're picking it up on our way to Chicago. Wait until you see this thing!

So anyway, we've got a ton of things brewing including another tour that starts THIS FRIDAY, May 14th. Here is a quick itenerary:

Fri, May 14th - Cal's Bar - Chicago, IL w/ nonagon, Mayor for Life
Sat, May 15th - Smiling Moose - Pittsburgh, PA w/ TBA
Sun, May 16th - Lunchbox Records - Charlotte, NC w/ Young Livers, Grids
Mon, May 17th - The Soapbox - Wilmington, NC w/ Fractal Farm, Unholy Tongues
Tues, May 18th - Legitimate Business - Greensboro, NC w/ Hammer No More the Fingers, The Bronzed Chorus
Wed, May 19th - Tipsy Teapot - Greenville, NC w/ The Great Sabitini
Thurs, May 20th - The Pinhook - Durham, NC w/ The Bronzed Chorus, HOG
Fri, May 21st - The Caledonia Lounge - Athens, GA w/ Cinemechanica, The Bronzed Chorus
Sat, May 22nd - Longbranch Saloon - Knoxville, TN w/ Willikers, You Just Don't

Check the shows page for complete details.

We've also got a few local shows coming up in the near future, including a DVD release show in Minneapolis on June 11th at the Hexagon Bar. The DVD will not only include a music video for "The Past", but also our entire live set from Sauce in January in HD, as well as other bonus features and superness. Make sure you look down and click on the three live videos that are already completed, as they look and sound AMAZING. Super thanks to Northern Outpost for all of their hard work.

Here we come.
